Resources

Overview

Resources are essential assets in the game, serving as foundational elements for building structures, creating armies, and advancing gameplay. Each land offers a specific resource, which players can gather and use strategically to build an empire, fortify defenses, or prepare for expansion.

Types of Resources

There are four primary resource types available, each providing unique advantages. Resources are tied to lands and can be collected by occupying or controlling lands with specific bonuses.

  1. Food (Bonus Type 1):

    • Usage: Necessary for sustaining armies, training new troops, and supporting population growth.

  2. Wood (Bonus Type 2):

    • Usage: Essential for constructing basic buildings, crafting tools, and fortifying defenses.

  3. Stone (Bonus Type 3):

    • Usage: Used for building more durable structures, creating advanced defenses, and crafting specialized units.

  4. Iron (Bonus Type 4):

    • Usage: Crucial for advanced weaponry, constructing high-level buildings, and training elite units.

Resource Collection and Management

Players can accumulate resources by occupying lands that yield specific bonuses. Managing resources effectively is key to expanding influence and achieving victory:

  • Occupying Lands: Occupying a land immediately grants the player access to the resource bonus associated with that land.

  • Resource Availability: Each land has a fixed resource bonus based on its predefined type. Bonuses are determined during map initialization and can be checked by right-clicking on the land.

  • Bonus Visibility: Right-clicking on any land displays its resource type and availability, allowing players to plan land occupation based on specific resource needs.

Resource Usage and Strategy

Resources play a significant role in various aspects of gameplay, from building infrastructure to forming armies. Here’s how each resource contributes to strategic decisions:

  1. Building Structures:

    • Food: Allows players to maintain high-population buildings such as barracks, farms, and marketplaces.

    • Wood: Used to construct basic structures like houses, stables, and warehouses.

    • Stone: Required for durable buildings such as fortresses, walls, and workshops.

    • Iron: Enables the construction of advanced buildings and upgrades, such as forges, armories, and high-level defensive structures.

  2. Creating Armies:

    • Food: Supports troop maintenance, ensuring armies are sustained and battle-ready.

    • Wood: Necessary for crafting basic weapons, shields, and training infantry units.

    • Stone: Used to train siege units, build defensive structures, and fortify army positions.

    • Iron: Allows for the training of elite soldiers, forging advanced weaponry, and creating specialized equipment.

  3. Research and Upgrades:

    • Food & Wood: Both are required for early research and upgrades related to farming, gathering efficiency, and basic unit training.

    • Stone & Iron: Enable more advanced research, including upgrades for defensive capabilities, offensive strategies, and production efficiencies.

Resource Economy and Trading

The game features a resource-based economy where players can trade, gather, or spend resources strategically:

  • Resource Accumulation: Resources accumulate over time based on the number of occupied lands and their respective bonus types.

  • Trade and Exchange: Players may have opportunities to trade resources with other players, creating a dynamic economy. Trading allows players to balance resource types based on immediate needs and strategies.

  • Resource Management Strategy: Effective resource management is key, as resources deplete upon use in buildings, units, and upgrades. Balancing resource collection and consumption is essential for sustainable growth.

Smart Contract Integration

Resources are tightly integrated with the game’s smart contract structure to ensure secure and decentralized management:

  • Bonus Retrieval: Each land’s resource bonus is stored in a smart contract, allowing players to retrieve bonuses upon land occupation.

  • Ownership and Resources: The contract verifies that only landowners can use the resources associated with their lands, maintaining secure ownership and resource allocation.

Resource-Based Gameplay Strategies

Effective resource management supports various gameplay strategies, including:

  1. Expansion Strategy: Focusing on acquiring lands with diverse resources to support a well-rounded empire.

  2. Specialization Strategy: Concentrating on lands with specific resources, such as Iron, to develop elite armies or advanced defenses.

  3. Trading and Alliance Strategy: Collaborating with other players through resource trading or alliances to balance resource needs.
